Static, hiss, and pop coming out of speakers after trying to relocate amp

I decided to mount my nine.4 to one side of my trunk. I cut out a piece of 1/4" mdf and put it behind the carpet of the trunk wall so that the amp mounts to the wood. So its the side metal chassis-Wood-carpet-amp. So when you look in the trunk you will just see the amp. Everything was working fine for the last couple years when I had the amp laying on the trunk floor, but I figure it would look alot cleaner if it was mounted to the side.

I took out the fuses of the fused distro Power block (0ga- (2) 4 gauge wires) before doing anything. In the middle of screwing the amp in, the amp fell on the distro block and the ground wire fell on the distro block. Somehow it caught power and I saw several sparks(no idea how this happen since I took out the fuses to the distro block). At that point, nothing was connected to the amp. I did not think anything of it. After mounting the amp to the side wall in trunk, connected everything..powered it on and the I hear a LOUD hiss/static/beeps/pops through the speakers. I figure it might be the nine.4 since its mounted on the side now and not flat. So I tried the sub amp and I get the static too. I figure it must be something that the both amps have in common. I know it's not the remote wire since i tested a constant 12v for the remote. I am assuming that it is the ground location.

Can that spark somehow fried the ground? I mean the amps still power on just fine, have sound, but just have loud static and pops when you turn it on and off. It's really loud hiss and static unlike some alternator whine and hiss I heard in other installs. Both amps share the same ground location. I just did not think the spark from the 4 channel ground can somehow damage the sub ground too.

Sorry for the long post..but any suggestions?

One way to be sure is just to remove, clean up, and re-attach the ground. That def sounds like a ground issue. also make sure your amp chassis isn't grounded, some amps don't like that.

Thanks for the reply. I will check the ground again. For the amp, I lost the mounting hardware so I had to make my own using 4 metal brackets. So it might have grounded itself there.
