My old roomate worked there last year, and they didn't let him go after christmas. He quit because he could handle working two jobs (wasn't going to school at the time, but he worked on a farm during the day). But he started in November and was there until March, which is when he quit. Besides, the Hub Supervisor seemed to think I'd be a good candidate for a part-time supervisor once I get the job down pat. She seemed to like the fact that I already have an associates degree. Who knew that thing would have a chance of being useful.ive worked at my UPS location going on 4 years now...
Sorry dude, if your in it for the job, quit now. Your gone by Christmas mornin'. They tell the guys here the same exact thing. The reason they tell you that crap is because your not union yet, it takes 30 days to become a part of the union. We get people coming through from temp. agencies, that get told the same thing.
All in all its a good job, ive got about another year or so to become a driver.
Not hired as seasonal. And tuition assistance is for everyone in certain cities. It's for management everywhere though. Benefits will be nice, but I already have health/vision/dental through my parents. This is just to pay my bills while in school.UPS is slavery ... this is coming from an unloader/loader who has been working there 2 yrs ...
it's good pay, tuition assistance is only for managers though so you may really want to look into that. loading during peak BLOWS, be ready to read a LOT of slics ...
are you hired on as full time or are you just seasonal? you guys are screwed for benefits since the new contract puts you guys off a full year before bene's kick in.
pay is OK, after a year you'll be at about $10/hr ... part time with bene's it's worth sticking around just for those reasons. i want to find a 9-5 (well, more like 6-3 shift) and have a full60 hr work week since UPS doesn't really pay the bills
http://www.upsers.com is one website you should know about, has all the financial benefit info aswell as copies of check stubs, discounts for retailers online, credit incentives ... etc.

Stevens Point is where I work. I'm from the dells, but go to school at UWSP. Like I said, it's pretty steady-traffic hub, so I shouldn't have any trouble keeping my job unless I **** it up or start stealing shit. I was tempted to just run to the car with a nice plasma tv and HP touchsmart computer I loaded last night.i don't think any of our trailers go through your hub, i work hub 4982 ... 498-05 499-03 498-02 and 497-01 pass through my hands.
all of our WI goes to stevens point ...
anyway, i didn't know tuition assistance was city oriented ... i was told i can't get it, then again my shift works 12 people.
i lost coverage from my parents when i turned 19 so i'm glad i'm with UPS.
Don't know what they make, but the Union makes it so you have to be around for EVER to become a driver. Everyone is promoted based on seniority. I don't much care though, because I will most likely have a decent career within 2 years. Either teaching college(finish up my bachelor's this year, then go for my masters for another two years) or as a chef (go to Le Courden Bleu in Minneapolis)Drivers make bank!!!! Don't they get like 40k-50k a year
