I hope it works out for you! Worst job I ever had in my life was at RPS. I was going to college and they promised me a 100 dollar bonus (at the time that was equal to around 1,000 to me) if I stuck it out for 3 months. On the exact date I called in asking for it and they said I didn't qualify and I said "I'm out" LOL...they rode me non-stop, no breaks, 5 trucks (was only supposed to have 3 max) just a crappy job to me.

Hopefully UPS is better.

Hopefully pay for my tuition next year.

Shift is from 10:30pm-3:00am. Last night I got out at 3:45 just because they got hit with a shit ton of packages at the end of the night and we were short staffed.I know volume will be on the high side for the next month or so, but the HR person said that, because of the economy, it hasn't really spiked yet and it usually does by now. My supervisor seems pretty cool though, and since my 30 day trial period falls on their peak season, I have a feeling she'll be cutting me a little extra slack. She already likes me because I caught all of the test packages she tossed at me (packages they throw in your truck that don't belong there, to make sure you're checking all your labels).

Pretty easy job though. Not really sore at all this morning. And for $9.50 an hour after 90 days (period before Union Seniority kicks in), I really can't complain. Wages are shit up in this area. Plus, if I go over 5 hours for the night, I get time and a half (woot, twelve minutes of overtime last night).

Only major problem I have is adjusting my study schedule to fit in the reduced time. I actually have to start utilizing weekends to get stuff done. But finals will be done in two weeks, so I can start fresh next semester.

thats gona happen so your gona be workin tell allmost 4 am every night bro. sorry i never worked at a ups i worked at other back room jobs and durning this time of the year your gona be stayin late. they might ask and be like hey can u give us a few extra mins. i was a manger for a company i really cant say wich one and i had to ask people to stay all the time. i had to even bring people home cuz they had to call there rides and tell them not to come.

ups is one of the best companies to work for, the un fortunate part is that 99.9% chance you will be laid off on x-mas eve... Specially starting this late in the year.

Not that big of a deal. I'm usually up till 4 or 5 anyway, and my first class isn't until 12:30. If I have a late night, I can just knock out for about 7 hours, hop in the shower for 10 min, throw on some scrubs and a hat and sleep through class.

I actually hope I get a little more time during the next month. It'll be nice to have an extra $50 or so on each check, especially since Union dues come out of your first four.

Naw, they said they want to make sure they wer hiring people that would be around for a while. They just fired a bunch of problem workers, so I should be pretty safe.

Good luck with that. They usually "guarantee" your job till the season is over. I worked there for a few months a couple years ago for some extra Christmas cash when the economy wasn't so bad and was still let go and they told me the same story. Don't worry, we need people right now.

Good thing I listened to the other people and didn't quit m full-time job as wanted out of it. Was funny because I got a supervisor position at my full time job and pay raise, but lost my part time job that I wanted to work.

Is a nice job, but you do bust your *** off and is decent money.........but IMO not really for the work you do. Would be nice to get your foot in there to eventually become a driver, but that takes forever.

My buddy has worked there part time for the last 10 years and still is part time, but he wants to stay that way, but tells me he has never been asked to move up or work full-time. He has another job full time, but he is making 15 bucks per hour...............washing the UPS trucks, lol!

edIT: has anoyone tried those tim mcgraw's spicy jalapeno fritos?...these little bastards get a little warm after a couple handfulls.

ive worked at my UPS location going on 4 years now...

Sorry dude, if your in it for the job, quit now. Your gone by Christmas mornin'. They tell the guys here the same exact thing. The reason they tell you that crap is because your not union yet, it takes 30 days to become a part of the union. We get people coming through from temp. agencies, that get told the same thing.

All in all its a good job, ive got about another year or so to become a driver.
