Is the SSA Xcon a good sub? I'm looking for SPL. Was about to order 2 12inch HDC3's then I found the XCON(Why do i always find new stuff lol). I've been told to put a 21 inch(random/huge size) incriminator death penalty in the car, but I'm not thinking I can fit it in my trunk of the grand prix. Everytime I get so close to ordering something, I find something else. Anyone got any info on the XCON?

I have personally never heard one before, but from what ive read online and through different forums its a pretty decent sub. More geared towards SQ than SPL but can put up some good numbers in the right enclosure. On the other hand, I have heard a few IA DP setups and if SPL is what you want while still sounding good, then your decision should be already made, plus Nicks a cool guy, give him a call. id say go with the aq's or maybe even a couple cascade omegas lol if u can afford them.

you could also go with a couple 15" dc level 5's, 15" sundown nightshdes(also in ssa store), or a couple of DD's (im not too familiar with dd, so idk what model)

or just tryout the xcons and right a review on here about them. they look pretty nice.

sweet amp. i would just go with the xcons because there right in ur price range.

the nightshades and omegas are a little more than ur budget

but u might want to check the prices on a pair of DC level 5's

Level 4XL's would be more appropriate for that power. The Xcon's get very loud and also sound very nice. Hard to go wrong with them. They'll do almost anything you want them to.

If budget can handle it, 2 15's would would be SLIGHTLY more surface area (almost the same as a 21") but would probably be A LOT easier to get into your trunk.

HDC3's, DD 3500, or Xcons would all work. With the HDC3 and DD doing slightly better tuned in the mid-upper 30's. The Xcon tuned lower (closer to 30hz).

What kinda space do you have in cubic feet?

I have like 6-6.5 cubic feet that I want to use. I need to have room for the amp and 2 batteries in the trunk as well.

3cuft ea could work, though most 15's mentioned if not all would enjoy closer to 4cuft ea.

Level 4XL's may work out pretty well. Fi BL's also come to mind.

I've never even considered building a wall. I would have no idea where to start. I build boxes, but a wall seems like a completely different story.

Take out the backseats and use the trunk and backseat, from floor to ceiling. Have to build it in the car obviously, but not overly hard. The worst part is expanding foam everywhere. You could probably have room for 2 18's if you did this. But it takes its toll on the car since the foam and 100's of lbs become part of it. Can be hard to get completely out.
