I don't see why square is a no no square is sum 18% more cone area. I had 4 L7 15s they were very nice. I did look onto the ss square subs but I didn't want to have multiple subs In a truck again. They seem pretty good. Have u checked out utube for vids?

If you want more cone area, up-size to the next larger round coned sub. You do not gain that cone area for free, it still comes with the same expense of a larger enclosure size. And the necessity of added strength bracing/ribs and mass in order to maintain the relatively weak square shape, as opposed to the stronger conical shape of traditional round cones, makes the answer to your confusion pretty obvious in my eyes.
