A quality set of headphones will help you define what "SQ" is much better than any number of other people's car audio installs, or even home audio setups. If you want reference and cant go listen live, buy some nice headphones.I understand that there are pre-defined definition of SQ. I've found myself losing interest in listening to other people's cars at meets, though. I think I've heard enough to know what I'm aiming for in my system. I know I listen to any music I can find and I want it ALL to sound good.
I can't agree with all of that...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifA quality set of headphones will help you define what "SQ" is much better than any number of other people's car audio installs, or even home audio setups. Sound quality is not wine. Is accuracy a quality of wine? If you think SQ is subjective, you really dont know what SQ is all about.its all subjective..
think about a great wine.. you will have a majority of wine drinkers who love it.. its great has great taste smell etc etc etc.. then there will be those who don't like it as much as a wine most think is bad or not as good.. thats why there are soooo many ****ed versions of everything..

Get off my phoooooone!
So now you are changing your opinion from 'its all subjective' to its somewhat subjective? That's ok, at least you are making progress.sound quality is not just accuracy..
and also since no one knows exactly what the original sounds like accuracy is opinion.. some believe it should sound like ... some believe it should sound like xxx.
no its still all opinion.. the people putting the final touches on the song put them there by their.. OPINION.. the final result is all in the listener.. however they perceive it..So now you are changing your opinion from 'its all subjective' to its somewhat subjective? Just because human's ability to decide what is accurate or not, at least in some terms, is subjective, does not make the goal subjective.
I'd say it's based on memory, which for most, is not very good. And memory is tied to emotion, not necessarly accuracy. But I agree on the *should* part 100%.and also since no one knows exactly what the original sounds like accuracy is opinion.. some believe it should sound like ... some believe it should sound like xxx.
Lets pretend humans developed the technology to accurate measure staging and timbre (to borrow foxpro's definition)... would it still be opinion? What if you stood there while the recording was made, and knew how the mixer "fine tuned it", or knew it was not altered at all. Would it still be opinion? Would someone else's opinion of the reproduction of this recording, that you experienced live, be just as valid as yours? If you answer these questions with a yes, then I dont see any other way to get through to you.no its still all opinion.. the people putting the final touches on the song put them there by their.. OPINION.. the final result is all in the listener.. however they perceive it..
