Get both and go with RD Sonances. I had a pair got decently loud (147.7 off a pair 12s) but was still clean and tight for fast double bass drum beats and would drop down low for rap.

Wow man, you are waaaaay over complicating it. Everyone knows its 10's for SQ, 15's SPL. 12's if you want a little bit of both. And anything above a 15 is just a photoshop fake.

That's a lie. 18" subs are real. I've seen one. They just **** because they're so slow.

The equipment does make a difference, but it really all depends on the install my man.
