I want (2) 12" subwoofers.

I got an Alpine 240MRX amp.

I want really good SQ but can get loud if they need to.

I want them to sound good on all types of music. Mostly Rap, RnB, and rock

I'm looking at so far

(2) 12" Dayton subs ... Don't know what series

(2) 12" Alpine Type-r

And maybe JL depending on money

Or any other suggestions you guys have.

Don't want a huge box.

Maximum price is $220

I'm really interested in the Dayton's and Alpines...

Daytons are going to be the ones to go with(ho series 10s are what Ive experienced with) Pretty nice subs.Cant rule out the Type R,They sound Great at any volume in a well made enclosure. Both subs are fantastic performers.I think that either would be ideal,as Daytons have I believe a 5 yr warranty, and Alpine only a 1 yr warranty.Warranty can /or possibly be the choice made for the subs you choose?

What about Dayton speakers? They seem really cheap but I can't find any real reviews about them...

The dayton ultimax is a great sql driver and the ho is an excellent driver as well

the speakers arent bad just watch the ohm load before you by. Many are 8ohm which isnt really suited for car amplification.

I'm debating selling my ho 12s if interested

I'm running rs180s for mids and like them a lot. Solid midbass performance right out of box, doors minimally treated though on my list of things to improve on. 4 ohm version, not sure how much different 8 ohms are if any.

Also ober on diyma there was a debate if the ultimax was worth it over the titanic or ho/hf series. I don't remember what the final opinion was though there were a few people who took the plunge and bought them. They look **** and seem to have good numbers but needed a large box I think

Dayton Audio builds very good drivers, so I wouldn't be worried about anything from them. Also, Parts Express will cut back flips to make a customer happy so even if you do have a problem with a Dayton driver, it won't be a big one.

But in reality, if you're interested in sound quality, think about the box more than the sub. A great sub can sound like shite in the wrong box and a cheap sub can sound fantastic in a good one.

I would recommend a single 10 in a ¼ wave transmission line. You'll get super wide bandwidth from well above the sub bass region to about an octave below the driver's Fs and you'll get fast, tight response that will get very loud when needed.

1 10 wouldn't be enough cause I really love loud bass but sq is so much more practical than spl especially in a Ford Focus

How much space do you want to sacrifice for the sub box? "Huge" is not the same from one person to another. Transmission line enclosures tend to be big and you can't shrink them down or they don't work.
