SQ comparison: 10W6 ported v. 12W6 sealed

currently have a 10" type R sealed pushed by a JL 500/1 amp, not that happy with the SPL, very happy with the SQ.

i was thinking that a 10W6 ported (in either a JL H.O. box or a box built to JL specs) would have much more SPL, much better low freq boom, but still not sacrifice much of the SQ you get from a sealed box.

second question: how much louder would a 12W6 sealed be than my 10" type R is sealed? i know the 12W6 is 100 RMS less than the alpine but from what i have heard from people, the W6 is very loud. i know the W7 is louder but the W6 (again, from what i have heard) is a more musical sub.

Off topic, but Frankiebones, did you used to have a GTI with a t3t4 or some ungoddly large turbo on it? Your name looks familiar from vwvortex?

Its all install dependent. I say go with a single 10 w6 ported, tuned low rather than the 12 sealed. They do very nice.
