My computer got some sort of spyware virus (always get random popups to download random spyware fix software).

Gonna do a reformat, but i wanna move all my stuff to my external harddrive first.

If im transferring music, movies, and pics to this external, is there a huge risk of any of those files being affected?

I needa get myself a decent antivirus software next go around.....

infections are in registry files....they will not transfer with typical file transfers.

Except ****, you will have to delete all your **** because it can be infected.

But seriously before you format, google "trojan vundo fix" and "combo fix"

if you have the boot.com & resycled virus it will leech to all your drives. To remove it boot into safe mode and search in regedit for boot.com and delete all the files you can from the registry. Then view fold options and check view hidden OS system files. now delete folder that says rescycled and a boot.ini file in each drive its on,
