SPX-17MB, Anyone use them?

Hey all, Im getting ready to get an all alpine system going, to more or less show off my audio store. Im going with Alpine type-x components up front and type x sub in the back, I was wondering if anyone has used the SPX-17MB mid bass kit to make there spx-177r components a three way set? Im also going to use the new alpine pdx amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif How should I hook these up? bi amp the spx-177 to a four channel amp and get another 2 ch for the mid bass kit? or what?

its a great idea that you get some midbass for that set bc those spx mids are quite faint in that area despite their excellent midrange. i cant speak for the midbass kit tho

i'd run the comp set and the midbasses off the 4 channel, its 125x4 right?

The SPX 17MB is essentially the same as the SPX 177r without the tweeter. If you're going to make a 3 way system out of it, Id suggest using a smalle component speaker set (say a 5.25 SPX 135 i think) this will give you a fuller range and with that nifty crossover, you'll be able to tune it quite well.

Honestly, I would use the Type R 6 1/2" for the midbass. I had the Type X 6 1/2" for my midrange and the Type R for my midbass. Of course I used 2 per door but there were AWESOME!! If you are a dealer you can probably talk them into just selling you the drivers by themselves. If not, I am pretty sure the Type R component set is the same price as the midbass kit.

I've com across a guy with 5.25" SPX mid-woofers and I'd like to expand my SPX 177r system to a 3 way. Anyone know where to get the SPX 17MB Crossover?

pacparts is out of stock on alot of Alpine components including these Xovers.
