Spring Training

All of these teams mentioned are junX. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Yeah, I see you didnt name your team either. I mean if we are talking about junk, might as well add Arizona to the mix. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yeah his numbers are there hitting wise, but I would still take Jeter over him and I dont like Jeter. Actually there were quite a bit of difference in certain areas in the average, more hits and Gullien is no where near the SS Jeter is. I mean hell you cant even argue that, but you have and I still dont get it. Hell even you said he isnt a great SS, but yet you say he is as good as Jeter, who will go down in the hall of fame one day. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
dude numbers don't don't lie. take guillen's averages with detroit over 162 games, and compare them with jeter's and guillen is right there with jeter. jeter is overrated defensively but he has a slight edge on guillen with the glove. homeruns, rbi's, average, obp, slugging, is all right up there with jeter and jeter is playing in a loaded lineup.

i know, i was just playin around, i dont really have any high expectations for them this year, Detroit is gonna be the team to beat in that division unfortuneatly
Come on mang, got to support better than that if you are a fan. I mean last year was dissappointing, no doubt about that, but I think with the addition of Josh Barfield at 2nd and an upside to Andy Marte with a healthy Hafner and a revamped bullpen we will be fine, as long as we get decent starting pitching I see us hanging in there. I might be joking about winning it all as nice as it sounds, but I see us contending this year as long as we stay healthy.

I also noticed that they have Polonco starting at 2nd base again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
of course they do. why wouldn't they? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

If you are talking about Gulliens numbers with Detriot, besides last year he hasnt been close to playing a full season. So how would that even be fair. I see what you are saying about last year as he played a full season, but basing 1 year on what Jeter has done year in and year out isnt a very good comparison.

Cause you were argueing about how much you though Infante was better than him. Remember now?

polanco still has 2 years left on his contract //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif infante has more talent. detroit knows this too cause they gave him a 1 million dollar extension, and he was tearing it up in the summer leagues. word is he may replace guillen at short next year.

JOSE JOSE JOSE JOSE....JOSE....JOSE!!!

cant wait get back to shea.

headin down to spring training in a few weeks to catch a weekend of games.

That is just retarded?!

Plus are we talking about who is the better hitter then? Or overall, cause overall Jeter wins hands down even in just detriot.

Also, I dont get why you would want to compare his numbers in just detriot hitting wise. I mean Jeter has played full seasons most of his career and just for comparison's sake Jeter has close to 600 more at bats than Guillen in the last 3 years.

Would you also say he was as good if he played like 60 games and had over a 300 average and so many homeruns? I just dont get how you can really compare the two even if it is since he has been with detriot.

If he is so dam good, then why in the world is he not playing 2nd base or anywhere else then?

how do you think they develop per season averages? go to espn.com and you'll season an average season statistic for each player. they get that by taking his numbers and averaging them over 162 games. if you only take what guillen has done in detroit, his numbers are right there with jeters. some players don't work well in certain situations. guillen was asked to replace the greatest shortstop ever so he was under a lot of pressure and didn't produce. he gets moved to detroit and lives up to the potential. also guillen was not a scrub minor leaguer. seattle traded a hall of famer to get guillen
