sports cards

The problem is the card companies killed the industry themselves... The great thing about collecting cards use to be rare subset/insert cards and RCs. They went from like 5-6 brands in the late 1990's to 12+ currently. Insert cards switched to Jersey/Autograph and they all lost their rarity.

Probably the worst investment one can make is to be $100 box of cards you would be lucky to get $10 back.

If anyone has any Penny Hardaway cards let me know. I had about 1/2 of all his cards back in the day and then they started coming out with refractors and atomic refractors and so on, I stopped collecting after that. Every now and then I see a card of his on ebay that's pretty rare that I still need but they're still a little expensive to get.
