Splitting a Port Between 2 Subwoofers

Hello, friends.

I currently have a single 4" round ported 2 cubic foot box for my 2 Sundown Audio E8V3's, which I designed myself as a tester box for having a large volume with these subwoofers. I'm looking to change things up a bit, and would like to go with more port area and less volume, and use a slot port as opposed to a round port. I would like the port to be between the subwoofers, however, the length of the port would require me to split it between the 2 "separate" cabinets, and I'm not entirely sure how I would go about this. Do I continue with the same size of the port in each side, or halve the area between the two? I've seen that most designs have a smaller port for each subwoofer, and they come together to the larger, shared part of the port, but I'm not sure if this is the correct way to go about it. Any incite on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
