SPL with a single 8" Sub... More sound with less.

Yup, my end goal is to bassrace a 139.9 with an 8" just because I want to challenge myself and others. Yes I could throw a 10" in there and prolly bassrace a 139.9 now but theres no fun in that is there? hahaha.

It can definitely be done. Probably take a few tries with the box.

it could be done. would be pretty easy with a 3'' coil 8 that can handle some more power. just make sure you can get enough spider under it to let it move.

If somebody came out with a nice 2.5" coil 8" that could take 1.5-2kw daily I could do 139.9 easy.

Hell I've been running a single 10" in 139.9 for 5 years.

atomic has some new 8's on deck that are "rated" for 1200rms, but i havent seen any actual tests on them yet.

Well the custom sub im having built is an RD sonance and its a 2.5" coil. The coil should take 1000 rms according to corey. Ive already played around with boxes so far. First one was with a T.200 8" and I did .75 tuned to 35hz and it sounded pretty good, then I put the CVL-8 in there and it did a 133.3, then I built a new box and it jumped me up to a 135.4 on ~450rms. I wish the coil wasnt a single 4 otherwise ik in this box the sub will take more like 700+ but im running out of power at 4 ohms.

Those look pretty nice, havent even seen them yet. Working on a new box for listening to daily, box is 1cft tuned to ~38 hz

DD recommends 38hz with 1cft so I went with that, the recommended tuning from Cadence was 35hz and the box size was the same. I dont mind losing a little bit of low end for a little more output, the resonant freq. is pretty high in the rangers, esp. a regular cab. Ill post some pics!

Box will be started tomorrow. Considering starting a build log if anyone is interested. Im pretty sure im gonna do a set of kicks too for my OEM's, not 100% tho as i might just put em in the doors.

i have 2 fosgate fanatic 8" i have been playing with in my house for a couple of days off a punch 40dsm think im going to run them as midbasses though they are suprising sounding very gewd.
