SPL positioning, theory vs. actual output...

I built a stand to go in my truck for the ported box to sit on top of. This allows the woofer and port to fire directly over my front bench seat. Theoretically I figured it would be louder since there is no interference with the seats and it is just about level with the dash. To my ear it sounds horrible and doesn't seem to hit as hard. I dont have a mic but I'm gonna try to get on one today and see if its louder/ or not as loud. Let me know what you guys think of the situation! Thanks alot guys!

the seats make very little difference in how loud or how good the woofer sounds. You should probably just drop it back down to the floor.

ya i think the seats dampen the sound and make it sound crisper. i suggest u put it back on the floor

I didn't put it back on the floor just cut off my stand and put it about 10 inches off the floor. I fired it back at the roof too...it just sounds better that way. I also got it metered before i cut the stand off and found it to be a couple db's lower than with it firing up from the floor.
