SPL box-port area

Alright if the weather stays warm i'm going to build an spl box for my 12" icon and was wondering how much port area I should have. Its going to be 2.25 cubes tuned to 37hz. Shoot me some ideas. Thankz

I believe that a lot of people do about 16 in^2 per ft^3 of box volume. I don't mess with slot ports so I couldn't tell you what has worked best for me.

i'd say as much as you can fit up to the equivelent of the cone area of the woofer...

Haven't messed with the icon so i don't know if the motor would be strong enough to support a much larger port than that.

slot, never did round before, it seems to complicated to me with having to buy tubes and I wouldn't know where to start.

Most people will tune the box higher for SPL. 37 seems kind of low.

my car needs tuned in the mid to high 30's for spl in its current config... peaks in the low 40's so should be tuned ~5hz down from there

Exactly what vehicle do you have?

For spl put it in 1.5cf tuned to 50-60hz depending on vehicle. Size of port depends on box type and layout.
