spl amps

SPL/Power Acoustik/Kole -- all basically the same stuff. I think it's some of the more acceptable budget stuff there is, but you're not going to get the power they claim. They leave you having to take the total fuse value x10 to give you an actual power output estimate.

You might look at audiopipe on ebay. Decent quality, ratings close to honest, dirt cheap and fairly reliable.

I would agree with this. I have run power acoustic amps before. honestly, not horrible but I wasn't satisfied with it either but you do what you have to do.

The power acoustik/kole/spl class d amps are not that terrible they just have a few little issues. First off they grossly over rate them. You can get decent power out of these amps just not what they claim. The second and really the most important issue to consider is that although the circuit boards are identical and or very close to some of the other respectable name brands out there they cut a few corners with some of the parts they put into them. For example I had a power acoustik a2400db which shares a board with many other amplifiers but in my amp the output inductors were not properly supported/mounted to the board and after a while they wear through the coating on their windings due to vibration and short out taking out some fets with it. If they would spend an extra dollar or two making sure these parts were secure it would be fairly reliable. Some of the better companies that use that board go the extra mile to make sure those inductors don't move around. Another related issue is that these same inductors are cooled by a small fan inside the amplifier. These fans are about as cheap as you can get. They can fail after not much use unless you regularly lubricate them and when they fail the inductors overheat and you end up with a blown amp. Just a little bit nicer fan would save a lot of trouble. Not terrible amps but in the end you'd be better off to buy something a little more reliable.

if your looking for a powerful budget amps, audiopipe is pretty popular here, I ran a ap30001d for some time and I was more than happy with it. make sure you have the proper electrical to back the power.

If you interested in Audiopipe, I do sell quiet a bit of their amps. PM me if you want pricing.

I agree, I would take Audiopipe over any of the above mentioned....

However if you can find a good deal. I just sold my Poweracoustik to a guy at a 1/3 of what it costs new, that makes it worth it for an amp to get you by, but you won't find many people selling those brands on here.
