For example I had a power acoustik a2400db which shares a board with many other amplifiers but in my amp the output inductors were not properly supported/mounted to the board and after a while they wear through the coating on their windings due to vibration and short out taking out some fets with it. Some of the better companies that use that board go the extra mile to make sure those inductors don't move around. Another related issue is that these same inductors are cooled by a small fan inside the amplifier. These fans are about as cheap as you can get. They can fail after not much use unless you regularly lubricate them and when they fail the inductors overheat and you end up with a blown amp. Just a little bit nicer fan would save a lot of trouble. Not terrible amps but in the end you'd be better off to buy something a little more reliable.
The power acoustik/kole/spl class d amps are not that terrible they just have a few little issues. First off they grossly over rate them. You can get decent power out of these amps just not what they claim. The second and really the most important issue to consider is that although the circuit boards are identical and or very close to some of the other respectable name brands out there they cut a few corners with some of the parts they put into them. For example I had a power acoustik a2400db which shares a board with many other amplifiers but in my amp the output inductors were not properly supported/mounted to the board and after a while they wear through the coating on their windings due to vibration and short out taking out some fets with it. If they would spend an extra dollar or two making sure these parts were secure it would be fairly reliable.
