Are there amps better geared for spl. I need a high powered amp in the 400 dollar range. I need one to run 2 type r's. I hear a lot about the hifonics amp/ brutus series. are they good amps and are they spl oriented amps if there is a such thing.

Could you squeeze out an extra 75-90 bucks? You can get a Hifonics Hercules for 475-490 shipped on Ebay. I don't think there's any such thing as an SPL amp. But the Brutus line is supposedly overrated slightly. So if you bought a Bxi2006d, you'd probably only get 1700-1800 instead of the rated 2000. Still pretty good, clean power. The herc is another step up and a totally different story, though. Rated at 2000 watts, I've heard it puts out 24xx @ 12.6 volts. The XX series from Hifonics are great amps. You definitely wouldn't be disappointed. The Type Rs should take the power well.

brutus amps are good for tones, bad for music

my bxi2006d sucks for quick punches

i think the power supply just sucks on it
