i have a pair of old school jbl gtx 8" 400w rms subs was checking them last night from storage and one of them - the spider has come un glued from its landing.

fml

do i risk glue it back down as is - or do i cut out the dust cap and shim it up to re glue the spider to the landing. its vintage and nos. so a recone is probably never going to happen.

but they are a cool little pair of 8s id like to use some day

i doubt i can cut out the dust cap and salvage it :/

this thread ***** with out picks

i forget how to post em here

o crap - what kind of glue do you recomend to re attach the spider to the basket landing ?

Not that I'm an expert but i recently had to take apart my alpine sub. They used some sort of rubery compound prior. So this time I used Automotive "goop" I've used it on tons of stuff before. It has an extremely strong bond and stays flexible. So far no issues. Might be a good way to go? Easy to apply and dries fully in 24 hours. and you just peel off the excess

E6000 or Goop will work great. Very strong yet flexible bond . I have glued split spiders back together with the stuff before and it held up under extreme abuse. Nothing beats a recone but if you're in a pinch E6000 is your friend
