If the kid darts in front of a vehicle and gets smashed, how is that the drivers fault (given he's not speeding)? Walking down the road is a different situation from a kid running out into the road. One you can see and prepare for, the other deserves a Darwin award.

I'm not saying it's the driver's fault, but there will most likely be legal consequences for them. Also, they would have to know the rest of their life that they killed a kid, which I think would be pretty bad.

If there are kids outside, just slow down and pay attention.
