Spectrum Analyzer on CDA-9815?

Crutchfield and other websites list this as one of the features on this HU. I've had mine in for a week and I can't figure out how to turn it on. The book mentions nothing about it. I'm wondering if either the websites are wrong, or if it's some kind of undocumented feature..

Also anyone heard about a date on which iPersonalize will be available for the 9815? Jeeze... Alpine's slite is so outdated.

same queston on the cda 9813 i thought it too had a spectrum analyzer but can't find out how to get it, also how do you set the clock?

i also just got my 9815 and called alpine. the guy told me it was to be added on april 1st. can either of you give me a better desciption of how to set the crossover and eq and what the freq, db, width, and band levels do so that i can set them properly. i am used to seeing the eq curve, not setting it by numeric values. alpines rep was pretty unhelpful when i asked him. thanks

Yeah, a parametric EQ is a little different from a graphic (for lack of a better term?) equalizer.

You have 5 bands on the 9815. The center frequency for each band can be adjusted, the width of the adjustment can be adjusted as well as the amount of increase / decrease can be adjusted.

Press "EQ" - "Makers EQ" will show on the display

Press and hold "EQ" again - P-EQ will show on the display.

Something like "50 1 +2" will show on the display

50 is the center frequency, adjusted by pressing ">" (CD Forward / Reverse)

1 is the width of the adjustment, adjusted by pressing "Source / Power"

+2 is the amount of the adjustment, adjusted by using the rotary encoder (Volume knob).

You can change the band by pressing "Band" through one of 5 bands.

I'll admit it's tough if you aren't used to it. I'm not used to it and I don't know exactly where everything needs to be set. It's different for everyone's car and combination of equipment.

Don't try and adjust it while driving! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You didn't happen to ask him about the spectrum analyzer did you? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's much easier to adjust the EQ and such using the iPersonalize portion of the Alpine web site, download the specially encoded MP3 file, burn it to a CD and use it to "program" your head unit.

I did mine using the CDA-7998 as the head unit since their site didn't list the CDA-9815 yet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i tried to use the i-personalize web site for my 9815 and after burning the disc and trying to download to my hu it said "no file" on the hu's display? can anyone give me better directions on how to use the ipersonalize feature. i must be doing something wrong. thanks

Wow.. Alpine actually delivered on-time. i-Personalize service is available for the Alpine 9815 on their website!

Color me impressed!

(Not that I haven't had the deck for about a month already and have most of the settings dialed in alread :p )
