Speakers off HU cut out only play when bass hits?

I just installed an AQ 2.5 15" on an Infinity 600rms amp in a friends car. He bought some shitty Jensen DVD headunit that only gives his speakers 13rms each (infinity kappa coaxials), and only had 1 rca for sub out so we put the rca's for the subwoofer on the rear rca out on the headunit.

While testing the sub the speakers cut out, then only started playing when it hit loud bass notes. Waited a few minutes and the speakers were playing fine again.

Anyone know whats happening?

does it happen right away? If not the deck could be getting hot enough to send its internal amp into protect I suppose, or there might be a short that gets crossed with the vibration/pressure of the bass??

IDK kind of a shot in the dark

nope just happens randomly, the subwoofer is always playing though

i was thinking it might just be the headunit, seems very low quality

Then try hooking a MP3 player to the amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
What would that do? The amp and subwoofer play fine, its the speakers off the headunit that is the problem.
