speakers getting quiet

i just hooked up some mtx 6.5's in a friends car off his kenwood hu

before he could play at 28 w/o distortion

now when he turns it up to 28 and plays for 10 minutes or so its starts getting quiet

then he presses pause then play again and it will be loud

any ideas?

Check your alternator.

it is all off the hu no amp

so there is no way it is pulling enough for voltage issues

Sounds like the internal amp is cutting output to cool down.

well would there be a difference in power from changing the factory speakers with aftermarket ones

and still running the hu at the same valume

slight, but it would also depend on the speakers themselves. He needs an amp if he wants to listen to it that loud all the time. Deck power only goes so far.

thats what i figured

but i can say ive been in his car for hour long trips with his hu at that valume and it never did this

even earlier today it was not doing it til i changed the speakers

any way to test the problem to see if it is internal amp?
