i had a system installed at circuit city 2 years ago in a 06 jeep liberty 4x4 sport.
replaced factory 6 speaker system with pioneer head, 6 speaker infinity speakers and sub powered with 600w amp.
it worked fine except for 1 instance 3 months later. which happened just that one time and then worked again 100% until now.
basically, that one time and then now, the drivers side speakers in the front door and back door dont work unless i turn the volume up half way, then they start working at any volume level. the tweeter on that side works all the time no matter what.
if i turn the ignition switch to off and then turn it on again (or get in to crank the engine) i have to repeat the volume trick to get the speakers to work on that side only. the speakers do not hiss, crackle or pop. they are either dead silent or ON in an instant. road vibration or banging on the door panel makes no difference, so i dont suspect a loose wire, although it may very well be, but that doesnt explain the volume thing.
it also seems to do this more so when the temperature is cold. could it just be simple corrosion on the contacts at the speaker or something more??
any ideas before i have it looked at?
thanks
