Speakers AND a sub?!?!

Well, it depends what year Type-R and what amp. For a budget system it will work perfectly, and I was going to go this route. Then I found a good deal on my 5ch, so I will be a lot happier with my comps running active (tweets and mids on their own channel for the first 4ch) and my sub receiving 500w instead of 250-300 that my old amp would have put out with the rear channels bridged. What amp do you have? Or what are the specs on the amp you want to buy? What are your goals with the system, sound quality or just to get some new sound in there and get loud? Depending on your equipment choice, two separate amps may be better for you, and might not cost any more than one nicer 4ch (for example...Profile amps--->get a nice 2ch and a mono sub amp for less than $300; more wiring and space though).

i had that in an old truck i had.....4 channel with a component set up front with a sub in the back and if you have an efficient sub you will be surprised how much bass you can get

What 5ch do you have?

iirc, it "sums" the l/r
Which is why you set it up so the left signal goes to the front bridged pair and the right signal goes to the rear. Stereo separation is maintained and you end up with a more powerful 2 channel amp. this assumes thatyou are only using the 4 channel in place ofa single two channel.

If you are talking about running the fronts off one set of channels and the sub off the second set bridged, the fronts will maintain left and right separation and the sub will get a summed left and right signal.
