Speaker wire to RCA adapter - amp not to full potential

I'm gradually getting my system up to where I want it and I'm going to start by adding an amp and sub to the factory stereo. So today I did this and the amp has just about maxed out gain, and bass level maxed - I never even use bass level on my amps, i have the gain on the wire to RCA adapter maxed out and I also have the bass knob maxed out and in return I get ok bass. To be honest the sub is just about equal to the rest of the speakers which are on a factory amp. The only thing I doubt a bit is the ground. I used the bolt from the rear seat as a ground. The sub is a 600 RMS JL and the amp is an alpine 1000 RMS amp, I'm using 4 gage cable . Could it also be the simple fact that it is a factory HU ?

That's what im thinking, I'm also watching the needle on the volt meter / factory drop when bass hits.

The sub is powered to 2 ohms and the wire that the adapter is on is probably 4,6 or 8 ohm. How does this affect things?? Could this be why o don't feel the power of the sub ??
