speaker wire sizing ?

im gonna run my 6.5" comps with 10guage and my SI mag 15" with 8guage is this to big or should i bring down the guage. the comps will run 100rms and the sub 1100rms whats your thoughts on this. thanks for any input

16 gage is fine for the comps, 10 seems like overkill to me. i would use 8 for the sub, but thats just me

16 is fine for the comps, if you must 12 gauge is fine too. The sub doesn't even need anymore than 12 gauge.

you can honestly use what ever yould like, some prefer bigger , some smaller it more goes off what most people just wanna say they have....lol.... but its personal preference.....

16 gauge is MORE than enough for 100wrms.

For the mag I run 8 gauge from my amp to the box, then in the box I step it down to 12 or 14 to the sub's coils.

thanks man. but dont you wanna keep the same guage wire from inside the box to the amp? im not 100% sure on the facts of guage and the amount of power that can travel through them but keeping the same guage from coils to amp sounds rite to me.unless im missing something.

You only need 8 to the box because that's where the current splits. If you are running 900w @ 1 ohm, then where you connect the coils on the inside of the box requires wire big enough to carry 450 @ 2 ohms to each coil.
