16 gauge going to your subs is no biggie when the wire is 6-8 feet total. I guess I was concerned with the total length of the installation. Frankly, I just think it was an excuse for a mistake. I didn't ask for 12 gauge to be used, but that was partly run already from a previous install and would really make sense to be used for the purpose of vanity/looks, if nothing more. Hey, they could have at least asked what I'd like run if it weren't obvious.
