Speaker wire gauge question

What is the minimum gauge wire would you use to wire 2 dual voice coil subs at 1000w rms total?

I bought a stinger amp wire kit it's the 4 gauge HPM kit. it was very expensive. The power cable that came with it is very good but the speaker wire is jokes 16 gauge. Is this stuff adequate for this type of wattage? Is it cool to just double it up?

Hmm why not just go ahead and buy the couple feet of 8g from your local shop
I guess i'll have to. I'm pissed that in a 150 dollar wire kit they give you 16 gauge speaker wire. the wire on my headphones is almost the same size. Stinger rates this kit to be capable of 1400w what the hell are you going to do with this speaker wire. I might have some 8 gauge home theater wire kicking around. Is this the same stuff as car audio? or is car audio wire sheilded better or something?
