Speaker Question

Im thinking about getting a component set for my car (diamond m3 )

includes, woofer, tweet, and crossover.

Question, do i need a 4 channel amp or a 2 channel amp?

im going with diamond because their crossover has an option for rear fill.

my car has a 10 speaker system. i have 3 speakers in my doors, tweet, mid, and whatever u call the other 1.

in my trunk. everything is plugged into an amp.

how would i go about hooking up a 2 way comp system there?

from amp to crossover to speaker?

how much power would i need to send the diamonds?

4 ohms 20/120 power range

If your going to use the rear fill option on that crossover, you can just get a 2 channel amp. I think most people reccomend using the rear fill option on the crossover. Your right about the wiring in that you run a positive and a negative to each crossover from the amp and then you do a positive and negative to each speaker in the component set. As far as the power...what size is the mid?

6.5" woofer

so basically in the door, splice the factory wires and connect woofer & tweeter.

in the trunk (gonna place crossover in trunk)

splice/tap wiring going into factory amp, connect speaker and tweeter to cross over. connect rear deck speaker to cross over.

where is says input on the crossover, that connects to the amp (new 2 channel amp)

i see that i am amplifying the speakers, but where is the signal coming from?

does this sound right?

what other component sets out there offer rear fill options?

Question, do i need a 4 channel amp or a 2 channel amp?

More channels = greater tuning flexibility. For instance you could wire a set of components with 4 channels, 1 for tweeter and 1 for midbass each side. This lets you adjust the output of the tweets independently of the midbass. Audiophiles will want this level of control, but the vast majority of folks will be happy powering comps with 2 channels.
