space between woofer and box

is there an unwritten rule as to how much space should be between these two? i'm guessing having the magnet sitting on the backside of the box would be bad for air circulation for the motor, so how close is too close? i have decided to go with a RL-i10 for the truck and want to make the box as shallow as possible.

If there's no pole vent on the woofer, then it can basically butt-up against the back of the box if necessary.

I'd say atleast an inch if your woofer does have a pole vent.
