Never had any experience with Helix or Planet Audio but i would definitely chose Soundstream over JL. I'm kinda bias to Soundstream though. I'm in love with their amps. I'm probably getting a TR1600/2 very soon.

from the reviews, i think the JL offers a good amp for 5 channels. i have never seen the Planet Audio or Helix amps, but they do sound promising...

specially the Vangogh/ Rubicon amps, excellent SQ amps- they sound very clean

I am partial to Soundstream also, but I dont trust the new ones, I would choose the Helix in this list

I think I would choose the Helix over the new Soundstreams.

The TRU amps appear to be pretty nice and I have heard good things about them but I am really looking for a 5 channel amp (all in one package). I am not building a competition system, but want to have good, clean power available when needed.

I am having a really hard time finding a used Helix or one for a good price so it looks like I am leaning towards the Soundstream or the JL Audio (mostly because of price and availability).

no...have not considered zapco or orion....

the PG is too big in size.

actually, i found a store in Germany that has HELIX amps and I am trying to work out a deal with them. if it falls through, then i will probably focus on the JL or SS...since they can easily be found on ebay.

If money was no object, the Helix would be on it's way.

But money was //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif so I ordered a Soundstream Van Gogh VGA320.4 yesterday, which will be running a set of Alpine SPX-177A's up front and a Image Dynamics IDQ10D2 v.2. I will post a review of the Van Gogh after I get her up and running.

I have had 2 Soundstream Rubis in the past and loved both. So we will see.
