Hey guys, looking into some woofers, which are a rebadged version of the Soundstream T2-12. Problem is I can't find all the T/S Parameters anywhere so I can't model them in winisd to compare them to my current sub. The sub I'm using now is a PCW-12 which takes 350WRMS, these subs take 1000WRMS, but I'll be running them at 350WRMS because that's all my electrical system can put out until I upgrade. Both mine and the T2 have a sensitivity of 89db, is this enough to say they will be the same loudness in the same box? I know all the other specs come into play but I don't have them.

Right now i'm using a 2.2cft box tuned to 25hz, I'll be building another 2.1cf tuned to 32hz when I get the time. The only specs I have to compare are:

T2-12:

Qms: ?

Qts: ?

Qts 0.29

Vas: 1.463 ft3

Fs 28hz

SPL: 89db

Freq response: 25hz-1.7Khz

200oz magnet

1000WRMS

15mm Xmax

3" voice coil

2x 1Ohm voice coils

PCW-12

Qms: 4.963

Qts: 0.638

Qes: 0.733

Vas: 1.839 ft3

Fs: 32.87

Xmax: 10.5mm

SPL: 89db

50oz magnet

350WRMS

2" voice coil

2x 4ohm voice coils

My favourite bass is generally between 25/30hz-50hz If that matters. Any help is greatly appreciated. Really need to know how these new subs would handle on just 350WRMS

Cheers.

ok well I've found on a site that the Qms is 4.0878 and the Qes is 0.3034, though I'm not sure how accurate that is as it stated the RMS was only 900... but most other specs agreed with what I've got here.

Anyway, I've tried this out in winisd, in the recommended box which is 2 cubes at 38hz... not really a fan of this, looks pretty peaky and the group delay is horrible, don't know what others opinion on this would be. The green line is what I currently have, the red one is with a T2 at 350WRMS.

Congratulations on your purchase of one of the finest woofers available for your vehicle today.

High SPL are the results when Power handling no longer becomes an issue. That is the philosophy that the T2 woofers are made on. T2 woofers are hand made monsters with an attitude, perfectly engineered for use with the Tarantula amplifiers. Boasting motor structures that exceed any given standard along with proprietary voice coil and former assemblies that gives Soundstream the winning edge in SPL.

Please take a few moments to fill out the warranty card and review this manual before installing this woofer for proper connections and box sizes.

• Determine the dimensions of your enclosure.

• Be certain the box dimensions that you have designed will fit in the location you have chosen in your vehicle. Sometimes making a cardboard box with the same outside dimensions is helpful.

• It is recommended to use ¾ or 1 inch thick MDF (medium density fiberboard) for your box.

• Use a “T” square to verify precise right angle cuts before you assemble the box.

• Use high quality wood glue and screws to assemble the box to guarantee an airtight box that will not come apart due to excess vibration and pressure.

• It is recommended for sealed enclosures to stuff the interior of the box about 50 – 75% fiberglass insulation or Dacron fiberfill for increased sound damping and woofer performance.

• For ported enclosures, it is recommended to staple 1” thick fiberglass insulation to the interior walls of your box.

• Use slide on connectors for spade style connectors or bare wire for push and screw terminals. Do not solder the wires to the factory connectors as this may cause damage to the voice coil or tinsel lead and may void your warranty.

The following page will give you a few different options to match the impedance of the woofers to the impedance capability of the amplifier. Please look and follow the diagrams closely to insure maximum woofer performance.

yep that's exactly what I found... note the values I listed in the first post, they were found using google and translated from german or something.

I also found that previously in a word document, the manual that I got from the soundstream website

Soundstream | Owner Manuals

neither of them stated the qms and qes values.

yea, I posted the questions on the teams private fb page. If they know, I will let you know. THats a nice looking sub thou.
alright great, hopefully the response curve looks a little nicer than what I plotted. Otherwise I'd probably stay with what I've got now. Just curious, what's your opinion on those response curves?

Cheers.

I would contact Moble Enclosures to design your box. he can design a kick ass box.
so basically you're saying it's crap lol. and nah I design my own boxes, I don't feel like paying someone to do it, I enjoy learning how to do it myself.

I have spoken to him about box building before though, and he really knows what he's doing, he helped me gain a bit of knowledge about it too.

Let me know if you find anything else on the specs.

Cheers.

For future reference all you need for those modeling softwares to give you a response curve is Fs, Vas, and Qts.

IMO that's a decent looking response curve. Cabin gain should give you a decent boost around 50-55hz so you'll wind up with more of a plateau between 35 and 60hz or so when you actually measure response. You might try tuning a little lower to mellow out that peak a bit, but at the end of the day the accoustics of your vehicle will be a bigger factor in determining actual performance.

Just by the mechanical specs it seems like a much more robust platform than what you have and could only be a step up IMO.
