soundstream amp doing some wierd sh1t

i have a soundstream rubacon 1002 the blue old school one. when i turn my headunit volume all the way down there is sound coming from my sub. its not engine whine cause it does it with the car on and off. the sound is low rumble kinda. i tried only left rca input w/ switch to mono, i tried both rcas in w/ switch on sum. im messed with the gain that makes the sound go up and down as adjust the gain. could it be sh1tty rca cable? i cant figure this out any help is much apreshated

18"s isn't very long... but shorter the better...

Is the chassis touching ground? I had a few soundstreams that did not like to be screwed right to metal.

no its just sitting on the back side of the back set. its folded down so the amp is lying horizontal

i had the same amp and same problem. check the rca. it sshould solve your problem. great amp.

ive seen some amps including a soundstream that did that when the gain was set too high. I know you said that you adjusted it but turn everything down including bass boost, subsonic (if it has that) and gain and set the gain using the tutorial. Is it a new amp or have you been using it for a while. Also what components are upstream from the amp. Headunit, preamp, epicenter, line driver, etc.

i set the gain like the manual wants. the amp is new to me but is a old school soundstream amp rubacon 1002. my headunit is pioneer deh p6400, no preamp, no apicenter, no line driver. conponites are stock monsoon which has a stock amp in the trunk.

ill just post in this thread.

its either your rca's signal wire is grounding out on something, being just messed up, somethings ground may be weak, or your rca's in your headunir/rca's are bad.

Ok its not the Rubi then something upstream, I'd say look for a better ground on your HU (try not use the one from the old stock HU), change out or ground your RCA's, like already said.
