thinking of getting 4 Rl-i8's at about 1,500 watts between them, or would a single 15" type r do the trick? looking for SPL with some SQ, dont want it to sound like shit. but i want it to hit deep and hard -- obviously the rl-i8 is the more expensive route, but **** theyre beefy lil *****es. almost 500wrms for an 8 is amazing

I say you should go with the 8's. Yes, it is more expensive, but I have seen some setups that would blow a single 15 away. You could also look into am FI Q or BL for around $300.
