sound system

Ok, I really don't know anything about audio or anything like that, but I love music and I want a good new setup for my car.

First of all, I have a '99 Toyota Avalon

I play my music from my mp3 player, so I definitely need a good way to connect it. (Right now I use a fm transmitter thing, and its not too great.

DVD player and stuff would be kind of nice, but not necessary

Most importantly though, it needs to sound really nice, and really loud

I need it mostly for rap and rock, so a good bass is important

But it needs to be balanced, because I have friends who have huge subs, and it doesn't really sound good because either the bass is mushy, or the bass completely overpowers the song.

If possible, I don't want to spend much more than 500$, but if necessary I could go past that.

Unless it would be fairly easy to set up, I would probably need it to be installed, so that should probably go into the cost also.

Front Speakers http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4589 70$

Sub http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2165 66$

Sub Amp http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3057 200$

Sub box and wiring kit - 100$

Total - 565$ if you install it yoursef

That is a "low end" system, but you will get a little bump and stay "within" budget.

Some room for upgrading in the HU so you aren't stuck with it in the future.

What would you recommend for a 1000 $ system?

Is there any way I could buy a few parts earlier, and buy the rest later?

And also, will I be able to take the system out and install it in a different car, because I probably will get a new car in a few years

yeah. you can remove everything. even the wires. if you install it yourself, it'll be way easier to remove. if a shop installs it, and you're not watching them, it'll be harder when you want to remove it.

they have step by step directions with pics on installdr.com for almost every car.

you can do a decent setup for 500, i do systems, but im in macon if you wanted, i could help, but im not guaranteeing anything, but atleast i could talk you throught the basics

you can do just a sub and amp first, i dont know how to do it without a HU but i know you can...

Or you could just do a HU and speakers...

before anything, i would do a HU so you don't have to use that stupid rf transmitter with your ipod then add a sub or speakers...

if you have a tape player, i recomend getting the tape player converter, because thay work much bettere than the fm transmitters
they still **** dick tho.

My buddy has the head unit that was mentioned earlier. It sounds pretty clean, and is easy to use. I would recomend getting a head unit, a sub and a sub amp first. Wire the headunit to the factory speakers, and thenwire the head unit to the amp for the sub. It would be really easy for you to do it yourself, plus you can get away with 500 dollars. Then save up, and upgrade the speakers, and if your feeling realy confident save up and get an amp to power all your speakers, and your good to go. Dont be ignortant, do it yourself, learn something, and have while your doing it.
