I have a pioneer avh-p7500. See below.

I want to use this

But iam concerened with the sound quality. I know the actual song itself plays a role, but iam planning to sync my cds onto my ipod and use it through my pioneer HU. For those that have this interface, is the sound quality the same, or do you notice a difference? Because i dont want to lose quality since i have an upgraded system.

Thanks guys.

I use my iPod and I can't really say I hear much of a difference.

My old iPod was quieter, but it was like that in all applications. Ishy hardware I guess.

But iPods convert your CDs to .aac format, which is just Mac's version of Mp3, and will run at whatever bitrate it was originally ripped from. (Average quality is about 192Kb/s).

So, it all depends on the quality of the song.

Cliffnotes: You won't notice a difference

are CD's 192 or 256 or something?

i thought that they were a tad higher, but i could definitely be wrong.

but to OP, yeah i use a hard drive and dont notice any difference lol, it sounds just like a CD but i download music using napster legally and CDs.

I always thought CD's were like 1028 kbps or somewhere right over 1000.

I also thought Ipod's converted everything down to 128, except for that "itunes plus" feature which allows your songs to play in 256? Is that right?

That would explain why all my high bitrate songs sound like poo...

I think CD's are 192.... But it is an unaltered copy, no alterations or anything.

For CDs: 16 bit * 44.1 kHz * 2 channels = 1411

ETA: With that said, I have been converting to Apple Lossless and I can't tell the difference between the ipod or a CD with the same material sitting still, much less cruising @ 70 MPH on the interstate!

i have that for my 880prs...sounds the same as a cd depending on the mp3 quality

all my high bitrate mp3s sound just like the cd....r u sure they are converted down to 128?

EDIT: i jus google it it n i think there is an ooption to make it down convert them but it doesnt do it automatically

That is not correct, it is wrong. You choose what quality you like, it's up entirely to you when you rip. You can have from no compression AIFF files, Apple lossles and down to measly MP3s if you like, but nothing is done by automatics.
