Ok, I was planning on getting 2 DD1510's, putting atleast 1k through each. I've heard nothign but good from them, so I figured they must sound good, right?

Well, I was talking to my buddy, and he said they're only good for volume, but sound like crap.

I want something that can get loud, but still have great quality. Are the DD's good and my buddy's dilusional? Or do they really sound like crap?

your buddy is a complete idiot!! Ask him this, "what sub sounds the best?" see what he comes up with, DD/Audioque make great products and I cant think of anyone that has been let down either daily driver or compeitior....

Cool, so if I'm pushing, say, 1250W through each of these, they'll be loud while still having great quality? I mean, I like loud, but I don't want to sacrafice the quality of the sound =\

Not being a dick but do you understand what sounds good vs how loud somthing is, I think alot of people dont understand the actual difference, when a guy burps at 170db it sounds good to him, because he is a SPL guy, doing a 125 db sounds like it sucks, but is actually pretty decent for a SQ setup in SQ events FYI, really depends on what your after, from your post sounds like your after SQL....I think that amount of power though that sub will perform great, but I dont think its going to last as long as you would hope, some will tell you its fine, but not daily driving, the 2510 would be fine with that power DAILY, I guess alot would depend on your tuning as well if its tuned high like say 40hz it may work out ok, but around 28hz-36hz I think its going to heat up to much.....what kind of price are you looking at? Perhaps a single woofer with that kind of power?

I'm talking 1250W MAX. I won't be listening to them that loud or putting that much through them for daily driving. Compatitions I'd juice em up, but now way I'd hav ethat for everyday.

Sounds good. I mean, my cousin on a similar amp was hitting 139.5 on TC-1000's. I don't want them aht loud nor beathing them that hard everyday >_>. So 800 on each, decent volume while maintaining good quality?

That quality really I think is going to come from your box build if you do a 4cube box tuned at 28hz then your probably not going to do very well, but somthing more along the lines of 2.5 total tuned at 38-40hz your going to get pretty good results. Try a box built to DD specs as well, they are always pretty good

Hm, I'll keep it in mind, thanks.

Real quick, on DD's site, it says it's power handeling is 450W RMS, Music is 900W, and Peak is 1800W.

Now, I"m just getting into car audio, but does that mean at 900W, it will sound best (Not loudest, but best quality)?

I'll 2nd the single HD set up. I replaced 2 15" RL-p's with a single HD315. New set up is louder, hits lower, and SQ is just as good. HD is a VERY solid daily driver sub.

You could also look into a pair of SD2.5's....

yea I sold that sub to mlstrass and he was in question, but now you hear from him first hand, and the 2.5 would be a solid choice as well I own a few of them and they are loud as well, just the HD3 is such a sick woofer all round.....
