Sooo......Active=FTW

Sooo... let's just say I was running a set of active components. The RCAs would plug into the crossover, and then into the amp, and then to the speakers? This sounds promising. Mikey you must help me with this when the time is right. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Right now I dont have my sub in but this is how my 9887 is setup:

Low-L 0 20hz 24db

Low-R 0 20hz 24db

Mid-L-L -1 50hz 24db

Mid-L-R 0 50hz 24db

Mid-H-L 0 2.5k 24db

Mid-H-R 0 3.2k 24db

High-L -5 8k 24db

High-R 0 10k 24db

Time alignment isnt dead on yet but left side is delayed about 22.8in iirc

Thats all off the top of my head but thats pretty much it.

I wonder if I can get my ppi pc4400 to go active...

..also is it possible to run my sax100.4 to my coax, and run my components off my ppi and go active with that amp...

so 8 channels, and one of the amps will be active?

BTW...nice job Mikey...I might be down that way for a red wings game, so I will have to stop by.....moar:p:

If your going with an external crossover, then yes, that's the basic idea.

You'd plug in your front (or rear) RCAs into the external crossover, then you'll get 2 sets of RCAs from your crossover, a bandpassed mid and a high pass. You'll then use a 4 channel amp. Then the mid range into ur mids and the high range into ur tweeters.

Hmm.... I smell a future project.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

No u can't. how will you stop the mids at 3k with only one crossover point?
IIRC, what that'll do is it'd make the signal have only frequencies above 3k. What about the signal from 62-3000? Where are you going to get that?
Yes, you can.

HU lpf 62 hz for subs.

HU hpf 62 hz sent to cabin speakers, in this case mids and tweeters.

Amp lpf 3k hz for the mids. This acts as a bandpass with the HU hpf.

Amp hpf 3k hz to the tweeters.

Its just way easier and sweeter having time alignment, crossovers, and eq right at your fingertips.
Thats another reason why itll take me forever. I was thinking about when I tune it just sit with the amps in the passenger seat parked. Mount them back in when I drive, re-tune as necessary.

I guess you could do it that way, but then you'd either have to use both ur front and rear RCAs (one to lpf and one to hpf). Or use y - adapters (i think thats what they're called, lol im blanking out)

mach 5 mli 6.5, seas 27tffnc are what Im getting from great reviews and advising. Get those for about 150-200

Hertz components sound great. Eclipse sounds good too. People rave and squirt all at the name CDT but I personally have never heard them.

Left and right channel RCA separation from the HU to left and right on the amp, 1 channel on the amp for each speaker maintaining left and right in the install.

mli 6.5 i've heard has incredible midbass response and the mach 5 site says they'll play to 3k hz but i've heard they don't like to be crossed over very high at all, and some people are actually using them as a dedicated midbass in 3 way setups... do you have any experience with the mach 5 6.5's?

Not yet. My plan is to cross them over at 2-2.5k hz. Aaron (denim) of ssa has those speakers set at (IIRC) like 50 or 60 hz (Remember... IIRC!) to 2k hz. He says the seas tweeters I mentioned above seem to handle being crossed over so low with ease. Hes the one helping me out the most with that project... pretty much everything Ive learned, Ive learned from him.

Im sure with proper sound deadening at least in the doors will GREATLY improve the midbass as well.
