Soon to write a review on ORION P SERIES 10" subs on an old HCCA 250 DR

Its been about 6 months now bumping my pair of Orion 10" subwoofers in an infinite baffle I built tuned to 34hz. I have compared it to 15"s side by side also used the wal-mart DB meter when encountering people who parkinglots curious to hear what their subs do and I amaze people with these subs.

They are installed in a GMC 2500 Vandura ( 3/4 ton van) hooked up to a Pioneer DEH 7800mp color screen and powered by an Orion HCCA 250 Digital Reference amplifier @ 1 ohm.

They make my steering wheel BOUNCE ! my column shifter bounces 2 inches when the subs are really hammering. I complained alot here while back about the amplifier cutting off on me, and since I built the ported box, it got better but it still cut off on me. So I tried something.. I added an extra battery and thicker guage power wire combined with a capacitor and it doesnt cut off on me until both batteries are just sucked dry, I can tell because the alternator must be getting hot as when its drained the lights dim even with the .5 farad cap, but it takes a very very long time to get there. They by far hit harder than any pair of 10's I have ever owned for paying 40$ a peice since Orion discontinued them .. (DEI for those who are anal about the real owner).

They hit hard, clean and I abuse the shit out of them. They came stiff as hell and were very non-compliant but now they move alot easier as I have worn them in.

All I need to do is get a freegin vido of them making the walls of my van FLEX !

I am impressed... I am so impressed with them that my desire to go to a pair of MJ-18's is quite subsided because I compare them to so many peoples systems and I leave people walking away wondering how the fk do those tens make my steering column bounce, shifter bounce 2" and the freegin SEATS if no one is sitting in them move.. my shiedshield wipers bounce off the windsheild and the dash rattles. When I see the voltage drop down around 12volts after a little while of that much power draw my amp will cut off. It too takes massive abuse. Gain is all the way down no bass boost turned on. I wished more people had the P series with videos so I could see if its just my subs with the install I did, or if its that line of Orion subwoofers that outputs the way it does.

My cousins have been buying subs and taking them back for refunds because every time we compare them it dissapoints their new purchase. I told them to go ahead and spend the extra cash on an L7 .. something I myself want to see against my setup.

mind you .. the subs are 12ft away from the dash and problably about 13ft from the windshield yet my wipers bounce off the windshield. I wont talk shit on the new Orion products ever again . .. as I have written reviews on older models and other subs.. but before I wrote a review I thought Ide spend a little bit of my time here at work to add this as a foot note , but not an actual review.

I thought about selling them in the box for 200$ so I could try a single 18" sub, or a pair of MJ-18's , but I havent seen enough videos on them. Ihavent seen a pair of 15"s yet that hit harder.. yet mathmatically that doesnt make sence. Maybe I matched my setup with my vans resonance or something IMO , but it fkn pounds harder than anything that I have spent more money on or compared to.

If there is anyone in the San Antonio Area who has a real setup, that feels will hit harder I would like to meet and show you what these 10's do and compare !

Im trying to make a reason to buy a different pair of subs but fk.. if I cant find anything comparable Im not changing up.

No joke on the san antonio area sentence.. I really want to see something hit harder.

Yeah I dont have faith in my wal-mart DB meter either lol..., but to know that your MJ-18 is doing that with 100/120wrms is making me feel more comfortible about wanting my pair of MJ's for the van.

Thank Jerimiah... I am happy to know it hits 127+ lol.. My mic so far showed the highest at 127.6 for these pair of tens, but an older TL meter at a local audio shop has shown my subs at 134.4 , but I got to pay those ****ers for them to test, and the hardest the TL ever showed was on a Bone Crusher track at 138.2.

Funny thing is, at college this very expensive sound measuring equipment showed 141.1 on the same Bone Crusher sound track after I added the extra battery and capacitor, but honestly it wasnt bouncing my windshield wipers any harder or more than when the TL showed them at 134.4 so I dunno.

I have seen though, that cheap little wal-mart meter seems slightly consistent when reading other peoples systems so from what your stating about your single MJ has more more anxious to get one.

I trust the wal-mart meter so maybe you did something right brother //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
