here is the plan: get an amp that would be able to power them, and then you be the judge of whether or not you want to keep them. they might be right for you, just not for others. and if you hate them, then you can use the same amp and just get new subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

In this case I have to stand up for Sony. I have two 12" Sony's and they are awesome. They are the Aluminum ones but i've still heard the ones you're talking about. The ones I have are awesome SPL, and really good SQ. I think for the price that they are at you can't go wrong. The ones tht you have i am a witness to the quality of them. My friend had 2 tens and they both melted. Don't know why but they just did. But mine are still running strong and have never let me down yet. So think about it for a while. I'm sure you'll probably end up sellin' um later anyway but give um a chance!

Well I have come to this conclusion. The people who think Pyramid, Sony, Legacy, and Jensen sound good, are the people who have not had the pleasure to listen to something 400x better. Oh well...if if sounds good to you - thats all that matters.

How much did you pay for your two Sony 12's?

That's the thing though. I've heard Rockfords, Alpine, Infinities, and AudioBahns, They all sound great. The Sony's aren't the best but for the price there is no way you can go wrong. They are great subs for a first system.

Audiobahn and Rockford's sound good? Dam what did those guys do to them...But see what I mean...once you hear something "higher up"...those sound like complete shit.

For the two of them by themselves were 200.....this is when they were still the new modle. Then the box was 80. I have a 6500D MTX amp pushing um too and that might be another reason they sound good. "Good" is in my opinion.

Oh I know thats your opinion. But for that price you could have gotten a Shive or two and it would sound 100 times better

Yeah, I didn't really take my time to shop around! It was and still is my first system. That's why I say they are more for beginners and for a first time system. I already have my new system. Two 12" AudioBahn Alum (2002). I don't know if you're a fan of AudioBahn or not but do you think I should have 1 sub power each or 1 sub power them both? Each 1000 RMS!

Ahhhh definetly shop around!!!

1 sub power each other or 1 sub power them both....hmmm...If I understand what your saying....get one amp, a mono amp, and power both subs with it. Probably wire the subs in parallel - depends on the amp you decide on. 1000 RMS...so you looking at something pretty powerful...either 1 ~1000RMS amp to each sub or 1 ~2000RMS running both subs. The Crossfire vr2000d puts out a lil' over 2000RMS...if I were you I would look into something that puts out around 1500-2000RMS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well I was looking at the MTX 8100D (one for each) or the Rockford 1000D or 1500D. opinion on either one? Also I saw that the big Boss amp throws out a lot of watts....what do you think about that one. Oh, and sorry aboutt he wording, yeah i ment amp instead of sub. Thanks for the inputs!

The MTX 81000D puts out 1000-1500 @ 2ohms RMS...I think that may be a bit too much for your subs....one of these running both be alright.

The Rockford 1500d would be fine to run both...the 1000d might be a bit too big for a single sub.

The JBL 1200.1 seems to be pretty common. 1 ohm stable...lacks a subsonic filter though.

Stay away from the Boss amp!!!

Kickers KX1200.1 would also work. Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200.1...etc...the list goes on.

Tsunami, JL Audio, Autotek, Crossfire, US Acoustics, Zapco, Arc, Memphis, Avionixx - all worth looking into also.

Well if your lights dim go straight to the source. The alternator. Either get it re-wound or puchase a brand new one with a higher amp rating than the old one.

You will probably need a new amp running a big amp like the ones listed above. Especially if you are running an amp for your speakers...neons, etc.

Well on the system I have now my lights were dimming, but then when i bought the cap it stoped. The reason i bought the second one was because I just figured since the subs were bigger, i'd buy another cap and that should solve it. I don't have an amp mowering any other of my peakers. Just one to power the subs, Monoblock is what i'm really looking for.
