No. With a proper install, you can make Sony products sound good. Reason why I referenced that mag is because he placed third in trifecta with stuff you call crap.
You can't even explain why it's crap. You just go with what you read on a forum. Unlike you, I actually go to shows around the country and people can do amazing things with products. You shouldn't brand bash just because you don't know what the fuck YOU are doing.

sounds like he got the sony xplod from walmart. sony makes a cheaper series just for wally world and that stuff is shit. i'm sure some of the higher end stuff is decent, but there is always better for the money

Sony DID have some higher stuff, I believe it was the ES. It was ALOT better then the Explod stuff of now though. :/

No. I did not use Sony products. But I do know a guy who does with great results in many SQ competitions. The point is, people come...bash, bash, bash and in the right hands, Sony products are not as bad as they seem. People in FL are hitting 150 with one 12.

This and DIYMA are the only forums I go...I didn't know Sony had a car audio forum.

Furthermore, if you visit SEMA's website, you can check out the two other cars.

if someone can hit 150 with 1 xplod 12 then why do we all waste our money on thousands for our system when we can shop at walmart....i mean, i have 2 xplod 10's from my first ever install in my closet....maybe i should pull them out of the closet and sell my ID's?

That's a good question. It's the reason I fight brand bashing.

I run Rainbow, Hertz, DD for personal status and bragging rights. They are also a little more leinent with concern to install. I don't have the skills to get Sony to sound good....but that does not make the product crap.

sony audio really never fancied me. i personally htink sony should just stay with other electironics like tvs n such. their audio products arent that good.

Exactly. The fact I get a better score with a Callaway doesn't make it inherently better, it may make it more user friendly, more 'easy', etc....but not strictly better.

but wouldnt features like easy to use, user friendly, build quality, etc...make something better....so even though you can get an xplod to do just as well as dd, hertz, rainbow, etc., doenst that then make the xplod crap compared to the "better" brands? i wonder what that guy that won the sq comp with xplods could do with the better brands mentioned.....might be some musical nirvana that weve never even heard before!!!!

even though tiger might beat us with those walmart clubs hed still do much better with those very expensive clubs.....

Many, many moons ago my very first four channel was an ol' school Sony amp. It has been one of the best four channels I've owned to date, except for my SoundStream Reference 604.

Heck, I think it still may be hiding somewhere in my garage.
