Sony XPlod Head Unit and XM-N1004 Setup Help

Hi,

I have just installed a Sony XM-N1004 with

a couple of Pioneer 6x9 Coaxial Speakers.

The Head Unit is a Sony XPlod CDX GT26.

Once it was all wired up it worked first time but was not not the boom I was expecting.

I have just realized that I accidentally connect the Signal cable from the RCA out on the reason the head unit to the input marked 'Front' on the rear of the amp. I have also wired up the speakers to the Front Speaker output on the app.

If I change both of the app connections to rear input and rear speakers will this man a difference?

Looking at the install instructions where the head unit only has one RCA output it looks like it should be bridge across both Rear and Front White RCA on the amp.

Also for a two speaker system the diag shows two Subwoofers. One connected Rear Speaker and Front Speaker Output. Can I connect my 6x9s in lieu of Subwoofers? Or should I connect my 2 spare Pioneer 25Watt into the front speaker outputs or will the amp blow them. I don't really have any room for the fronts.

Wow that manual...not the greatest. If I am reading it right and you are only going to use those 2 speakers then connect the RCAs to Front Left and Rear Left. Then wire the left speaker to the Front L+ and R- on the amp. Wire the right speaker to the Rear L+ and R-. Just watch your gains, it says the output in that configuration will be 175W × 2 at 4 Ω, if it does rated.

Hmm, my speakers are Pioneer TS-A6923i 6 x 9 Coaxial which are rated at 60watt RMS 400 Watt Max Input.

I bought the amp and speakers from CarAudioCentre who said they would be fine (I did state that these would be the only 2 speakers)?

How do I 'watch my 'gains'?

OK so I changed the connections on the amplifier for a two speaker system connecting the RCA to Front L and Rear L and the speakers to Front L+ and R+ and Rear L+ and R+. As stated in the install instructions I also turned on the LPF on the Amp.

When I turned on the radio all I got was some very low bass sounds (due I now know to the LPF only passing low frequencies). I then switched the LPF off and I now have better clearer sounds than before and with the Sub Woofer setting on the head unit set at +2 it's got some nice, but not too much, thump.

Ref Gains, after reading this and this, I now also know that when installing an amp that the power output on the Head Unit and the Power Input on the amp is matched. The amp seems to have two level switches (Front and Rear) with four settings (0.3, 2, 4 and 6v) and according to this page the Sony's Pre Out voltage is 2v, so the amp needs to be the same (which it may well be already?).
