Sony XM tuner to factory head via R/F??

I want to use my Sony Unilink XM tuner box with my factory radio. I read once you could use certain Sony R/F Unilink changer controllers to control the Sony XM tuner box. Does anyone have experience with this? I had an older Sony R/F package and daisy chained the XM tuner between the control box and 10 disk but it didn't recognize the XM tuner.
