Sony SXRD KDS-50A2000 and Blu-Ray need help

Like the title says I have a Sony SXRD KDS-50A2000 that is a 2006 model. Its 1080P. I just got a Sony Blu-Ray. When I set the Blu-Ray so it outputs at 1080P and input to my TV through HDMI my TV says unrecognizable source. If I leave it on auto output on the Blu-Ray it will play but the 1080P light is not on which tells me it is outputing what looks like 1080I.

Does anyone have this series TV with this issue?

I'm thinking your tv doesn't support 1080P.

first off, did you update your blu-ray players firmware? next the reason that you need to have it set to auto is b/c not all blu-ray movies are recorded in 1080p. btw what blu-ray player do you have?

Blu-Ray is a Sony BDP-S350. It has a 24P blue light that goes on when it is outputing 1080P. I just got it so I hope it doesent need any updates.

I also called Sony and after some talking they said my TV although is 1080P only means it will upconvert some signals to 1080P. Not that it accepts 1080P signal. What a bunch of crap. When I bought that TV it was the best you could buy. The whole reason i bought it was that when I went to Blu-Ray or HD DVD at the time I would be able too. It does not make sence why Sony would make this TV in in 2006 and not have it compatible with their Blu-Ray which they were selling at the time. SXRD was supposed to be their upper line.

you need to update it. it has the original firmware that it had when these first hit the market. you need to keep it on auto. 24p just means that the blu-ray movie is atleast 24 frames/sec. has nothing to do with 1080p. your tv will not automatically upconvert a signal. just a word to you upconvert does not mean it will make your picture 1080p. you cannot make something that is recorded in 480p(standard dvd) show in HD quality. sony made them both and they both work together just you are trying to get it to work the way it is not suppose too.

I will get it updated. Is there a web link to help? I guess what I meant to say is the TV's native resolution is 1920X1080 or 1080P. So there is no reason it should not take a 1080P input. None of this makes sense when in the manuel it says HDMI input is for 1080P.

This is making no since at all to me, and their is no reason why your blu-ray should not output 1080P out the box. Are you sure your tv can accept 1080P, is the movie 1080P or 720P, and are your settings on your tv set correctly?

Ok I think I got the low down. New Blu-Rays also output a 1080/24P picture that is even above 1080P. My TV only accepts 1080P. So I cant use the 1080/24P. Thats what Sony told me. I hope its true.

the tv can accept 1080p and display 1080p. you need to keep the display setting on the blu-ray player to auto since it displays blu-ray movies that are recorded in 1080p but for anything that is not at 1080p you need to let the blu-ray player decide the best output resolution possible.

to perform the update just connect the blu-ray player to the internet via the ethernet port on the back of the player. turn on the player with out a disc in it. go to the setting and you'll see network update or something of the sort. let it upload all the new firmware and just follow the instructions that you are promted to do. after all this is done you'll have an up to date blu-ray player. after go to display setting and put it either on auto or let the player choose the best possible resolution.

not true. 24p just stands for 24 frames per second, has nothing to do with your TV. I am a Sony HT rep and I know that I know more than whoever you talked to on the phone. they don't have to go through all the testing I have to. Just follow what I am telling you. your thinking is causing you not to understand. if you have a question just ask don't assume.

wow, their costumer service fails horrible. They actually told you that 1080p/24fps is a resolution. Do the update and let us now, I seen some crazy ht problems but this is by far the worst I seen in a while.

OP, go into your blu-ray players setup and picture options and disable 24P playback, problem solved...

Can you find out why my TV is not accepting the 1080/24P signal? I really hope Sony thought of their 2006 1080P TV's before they started mass producing the Blu-Ray. All I know is in the Blu-Ray book it says that when the blue light is on the Blu-Ray is outputting 1080/24P. When I make the Blu-Ray do this(Turn BD-ROM 1080/24P setting to ON) my SXRD does not accept and displays nothing. When I set the 1080/24P to Auto then it puts up a good picture but the blue light goes off.

Sony had to of noticed this when they tested the Blu-Ray on their own TV's in R&D. Because my TV came out around the same time as the Blu-Ray where starting to really catch on.

do you really need that light to be on? you are thinking way too hard. you want your tv to display what your blu-ray player is playing right? just set it to auto. j3bus2k3 and I are telling you how to get it to work.
