Soooo, I just realized somthing. My subs seemed "quiet" compared to a friends, who had the same ones, with a smaller amp. I always thought my box was too big because its a BIG sealed box, but never looked into HOW much too big.

Crutchfield specs say...

# sealed box volume: 1.0 cubic feet

# ported box volume: 1.58

Yeah well, ahemm here:

Im thinkin, maybe I should try porting this box... does it HONESTLY matter if the ports fire towards the cabin? They are in my trunk, So I don't think I would hear the port noise, but I dunno, Or on the sides maybe? Also does 35 Hertz sound alright for a tuning spot???? I know this could go in the Enclosure forum, but its more specific to the sub, move if need be.

have them fire towards you if you got a shoddy trunk and if you have a very nicely sealed trunk with edead, peel n seal, or dynamat, you can have them face away from teh you.

hope that helps.

porting will definately increase spl. 35 hz. would make a good area to tune it at.

just for shits and giggles where at in michigan are you from? doesn't seem to be too many michigan folks here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Im from south east MI, Whitelake/heartland/Highland anything sound familiar? And shiot, my trunk isn't very well sealed, and recently started rattlin' like a biatch.

is that in oakland county? i live up near houghton lake, but used to live in detroit. wow, this is way off topic. some sound deadening will help improve spl inside the car. some peel & seel or edead will work.

yeah it is... lol.. Oh not too bad, I've thought about the sound material stuff, lol, is there a decently cheap, bang for the buck one?
