sony 12's

Why did you waste your money on a plastic sub. And yes that amp( not sub)LOL is ok for that sub cause ur gonna run it a 2 ohm and the rms for that amp is probably 200rms.

Dont buy that crap again. OK

Next time u have 400 bucks ask the guys here what to invest before goin to walmart.

take it easy man

He already has it so why diss?

RMS is what you need to check not the peak watts they use to sell the sub/amp. RMS is what they run at. Generally sony isn't liked around here, but it could be fine for you. Check the specs on your amp. You can find it online and find the RMS at what ever Ohm your sub is. It should be 4 or 2 ohm and it should work just fine.

I like my Sony HU/changer btw and people hate sony. I wouldn't buy sony speakers, but I also wouldn't buy bose and a few other companies stuff... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Plastic sub??? Hmm, you mean the same plastic used on Sony and Pioneer drivers is different than the stuff JL uses? Seems odd.

He already has it, it's his sub, his amp, his truck and the only person that has to be happy with it is him. So if he is happy with it, that's all that matters. As far as the amp being too much for the sub, we would have to know the RMS specs on the amp, and what ohm your sub is.

Ma bad for the the aggressive reply .

Your amp is 760 max. probab 200rms

RMS is the continuoes power handling of a woofer. This is more important that peak power handling. This goes for the amp as well. You provide an amp for your woofer according to its rms handling. Go check the rms of your amp. and post it back up here.

Also Welcome to the board.

And don't forget to add that power handling of the driver will be solely dependant upon the enclosure. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

Set your gains accordingly. There are a ton of people on here who can help you with that if you're not sure on it. I'm sure the Pioneer will handle it well.

I love it when people come to events and diss Sony. I'm a sony dealer and have to use the stuff I sell in order to make sales. I have 2 Sony monoblocks running my 2 Cerwin VMAX 12's. Yesterday I did a 148.3 at the Audiowaves show in Oshawa, ON. I think that speaks for itself.

Not everyone can afford (or has access to) nothing but high end stuff. My first system was 2 mtx blue thunder subs (the first generation ones) and a 50w x 2 pioneer amp. Everyone has to start somewhere.

i had some sony 12 xplod's, i know, i know, they were cheap and i just needed something. but anyway, i tried it in the 1ft^3 sealed like prefered, and it sounded like poooo! then i put it in a 2.15ft^3 ported @33Hz and they sounded pretty **** good for what the are, i had about 400wrms going to mine.
