Sonosub port up or down?

I'm building a sonosub and having one 12 firing down and one 12 on top. Should I port it up or port down onto a piece of wood, and why? Thanks

uhh couldnt you just use like kerfed wood or thick rolled plastic instead of cocrete seems a little out of the ordinary

The tube isn't made of concrete -- it's a concrete pouring tube.
